Many know East Preston as a popular seaside village between Worthing and Littlehampton. It is home to some of the most beautiful properties in Sussex and is also becoming increasingly popular for people interested in buying holiday homes. In the 20th century, the traditional farming life became a thing of the past and the population boomed from a few hundred to over 5, by the end of the century.
Today, East Preston is somewhat different from its farming community roots, however a lot of its original charm remains. Interesting fact: the famous actor, Stanley Holloway and his wife were buried at the church of St Mary the Virgin having lived in nearby Angmering for several years. There are lots of attractive detached properties around East Preston, as well as many beautiful bungalows and apartments in the village, both for sale and rent. There are also the prestigious and private marine estates right on the beachfront.
More recently there have been some lovely new developments. The annual East Preston Festival runs for 10 days at the end of May each year and has been a popular local event since it began in It even won a Festival of the year Award in ! East Preston has a non-league football club founded in — East Preston F. For those who like to get out for a nice walk, try nearby Angmering woods which are particularly beautiful in spring when the bluebells come out. There is of course the beautiful East Preston beach, which is much quieter than other seafronts.
Bowling, clip and climb, golf and soft play — it offers something for all ages.
Mewsbrook Park in Rustington is a favourite park to take the kids to in the local area. They can run free in the adventure playground, play a game of football or feed the ducks in the pond. Nearby Ferring Country Centre is also worth a visit. You can meet the donkeys, alpacas and lots of other farm animals at Dales Farm and the young ones can burn off energy in the outdoor play area.
